Few thoughts on latest news…
A lot of interesting things happened in the last three days… here right a short list of what I think.
Mozilla has released Firefox for Maemo 1.0, dedicated to all Nokia’s Linux-based smartphones and maybe it will be available soon also for Win Mobile devices too. It will support the majority of existing add-ons and popular features like the AwesomeBar. What does it mean? In my opinion this is a key-point in what I call “the war against the iPad phylosophy”. There’s no way, people must admit that this new device is really going to hit the market of larger smartphones (think also to HTC HD2 with a 3.4′ screen) and having a good alternative to Safari, can really make the difference.
Microsoft released Windows Azure platform.
The Windows Azure platform offers a flexible, familiar environment for developers to create cloud applications and services. With Windows Azure, you can shorten your time to market and adapt as demand for your service grows.
Windows Azure offers a platform that is easily implemented along your current environment.
- Windows Azure: operating system as an online service
- Microsoft SQL Azure: fully relational cloud database solution
- Windows Azure platform AppFabric: makes it simpler to connect cloud services and on-premises applications
This is a quite interesting news if you are interested in creating cloud-computing-based services and no way to do not consider it a valuable solution.
How about iPad? Well, analyzing the SDK, developers discovered a full UI package to take photos and manage video calls. Is the iPad going to have an inner webcam under the black glass? Moreover there’s a news that slowly is taking space in the net: Apple is going to produce something like a 15.4′ enormous iPad with a real OS like SnowLeopard. Is it going to be the heir of notebooks? Rumors rumors and again rumors…
OpenSource is a word that I like very much. While AMD releases its Evergreen drivers, OpenOffice is proud to announce that 21% of German PCs run its suite. It’s quite an awesome number, don’t you think it?
Flash is going to be enhanced in the next few months with the release of v 10.1 that should work better on all netbooks and portable devices. We all know that there’s an open wa between Apple and Adobe but I’m really curious to look at what will happen with the introduction of HTML5 that requires this technology.
